Sights in and around Niederndorf

Niederndorf and its surroundings
offer lots of possibilities
how to spend the most
beautiful days of the year.

The little museum of "ancient handicrafts"
is really worth a visit -
the family Kaltschmid has created
a gem of ancient and partly forgotten handicrafts.

The idyllic village close to the bavarian border with its 2500 inhabitants is towered by the worth seeing "pilgrimage chapel Maria Heimsuchung".
The chapel at the Hechenberg was built in 1778 and reminds of the successful defence of hostile attacks. Worth seeing and historically valuably are especially the baroque smith iron grid, the "Löfflerglocke" from the year 1557, the late-classicistic altar, created in 1848 from Josef Stumpf, with a copy of the "Innsbrucker Mariahilfbild", the wax figures Notburga and Isidor from the 19th century as well as a row of expensive votive pictures from the 18th and 19th century.

You find the chapel after a 30 minutes walk on a forest way, which is accompanied by handpainted cross boards.

In the deer park "Wildbichl" you can have a look at a diversity of animals in their natural surroundings. Beside red deer, ibex or lynx there are chamois, moorland sheep, wild boars and many more.

Stroll along the lecture path of plants with its native plants, trees and bushes and watch the birds. A huge playground area is awaiting our young visitors.
